Barber in 1881 this dime was part of a five coin series that saw use in the islands until 1900 when the islands became a territory of the United States. Circulation business strikes were minted at the San Francisco Mint (without mintmark) from November 17, 1883 through June 1884 (all dated 1883). Although a quarter million of these were struck, many were subsequently melted as a result of the removal of legal tender status once the Kingdom of Hawaii became a U.S. Territory in 1900. This beautiful silver coin is in fine condition, shows bust of King Kalakaua back-wreath and crown, 19.9 mm, Fine condition.

Very scarce original Royal Hawaiian Monarchy document from 1855 signed by both King Kamehameha and Queen Kaahumanu. This is a land deed, 'ROYAL PATENT, UPON CONFIRMATION OF THE LAND COMMISSION' printed in English and Hawaiian language. Wax-imprinted Hawaiian Seal is still in perfect condition. This was meant to be folded in half then in fourths, measures 19" x 15" opened, small printed picture of Kaamehameha included(recent, not originally with deed). Condition is really better than one might expext from a 150 year old Hawaiian document with expected age toning, fragile paper, worn edges.

Can't make out each letter precisely but basicly reads: "July 5th 1900 Hon. J. L. Carter. I forgot to add in my last that note - I have had good offer for Leimahei. Can you inform me as to when the Wong Harai case is to come off- and can you not hasten the suit. I have promised this party that as soon as the case is won I will close the agreement with them" signed "Liliuokalani" 8 x 10 cream paper, blue ink stamp on back with the date of letter written. Small corner missing upper left taht does not effect this rare hand written note by Hawaii's last Queen. Still in excellent condition for an important Royalty document that's over 100 years old!
